Exploring one of the most beautiful museums of Meghalaya I Shad Suk Mynsiem
Description
Shad Suk Mynsiem or the dance of peaceful hearts is one of the biggest annual festival of the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya in India. Known to be held in April, it is often associated with the preparation of spring and a ‘thanksgiving’ dance to the Almighty. The event is a dance performance accompanied with songs and reputed rituals that represents the cultural tradition of the Khasis. Both male and female performers wrapped in traditional costumes engage in a spree of dance on the tunes of drums and pipes in Weiking, Shillong. Specifically, the festival represents the qualities of purity and fertility of the women to represent the group and also the unity of the community to embrace the ability to address the nature as well as embrace their traditional values.
