Torna fort also called as Prachandagad is a huge fort situated in the district of Pune in the state of Maharashtra in India. It remains culturally important due to the fact that this was the very first fort Shivaji I captured, at the young age of 16 in the year 1646.
This fort is reported to have been built by the Shiva Panth in the early part of the 13th century. There is a temple of Menghai Devi also known as the Tornaji temple close to the entrance of the fort. This fort was taken by Malik Ahmed a Bahamani ruler in the year 586 AH, i.e. during the time of Alauddin Khilji in late 1470s. The distance of the fort is approximately fifty kilometers using Pabe Ghat and lies to the southwest of Pune in the Western Ghat of Sahyadri mountain ranges with the starting point at Velhe village.
