Chunar Fort also known as Dah Fort is a fort in Chunar, Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh state, in northern India near Varanasi. Archaeologically it carries a very important place as the fort stands on a hill that commanded the Ganges and as history shows was a centre of many rulers and dynasties. The Chunar Fort has witnessed the occupied by Mughals, the Nawabs of Awadh and the British successively.
