On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Utsav, we present to you a short video about Varad Vinayak Ganpati or Mahad Ganpati Temple.

Also spelt as Varadavinayaka Mahad, it is one of the Ashtavinayak temples of the Hindu deity Lord Ganesha. It is located in Mahad samll town situated in Khalapur taluka near Karjat and Khopoli of Raigad District, Maharastra, India. The Varadvinayak Mahad Ganpati Temple/Mandir is the Seventh Ganesha temple among Ashtavinayak to be visited during the Ashtavinayak Darshan yatra/tour. The idol at the VaradVinayak Mahad Ganpati Temple is Swyambhu murti and the temple is actually recognised as a Math.The temple is very simply designed with a tiled roof, a dome 25 feet high with golden pinnacle and a golden summit (Kalas) which has a carving of a cobra (also a deity revered by Hindus). The Temple is 8 feet long and 8 feet broad. The original idol of Varadvinayak can be seen outside the sanctum. Since the idol was in a badly weathered condition, the temple trustees immersed that idol and consecrated a new idol in that place. However, such a decision of trustees was objected by few people and a suit was filed in the district court. Result of this case is still awaited. Now two idols, one inside the sanctum and one outside the sanctum can be seen. The sanctum made up of stone and surrounded by beautifully carved stone elephant carvings, houses the idol. Lord Ganesha is said to reside here in the form of varada Vinayaka, the giver of bounty and success. This Ashta Vinayak shrine faces east (Purvabhimukh) and is enshrined in the sitting posture, with his trunk turned towards the left. The stone idols of Riddhi and Siddhi are seen in the sanctum. Lord Ganesha as Varad Vinayak fulfills all desires and grants all boons. ​रक्तो रक्ताङ्गरागांशुककुसुमयुतस्तुन्दिलश्चन्द्रमौलि नॅत्रेर्युक्तस्त्रिभिर्वामनकरचरणो बीजपूरान्तनासः । हस्ताग्राक्लृप्तपाशांकुशरदवरदो नागवक्त्रोऽहिभूषो देव: पद्मासनो वो भवतु नतसुरो भूतये विघ्नराजः ॥ Translation in Hindi:- वे विघ्ननाशक श्रीगणपति शरीरसे रक्तवर्णके हैं। उन्होंने लाल रंगके ही अंगराग, वस्त्र और पुष्पहार धारण कर रखे हैं। वे लम्बोदर हैं; उनके मस्तकपर चन्द्राकार मुकुट है; उनके तीन नेत्र हैं और हाथ-पैर छोटे-छोटे हैं; उन्होंने शुण्डाग्रभागमें बीजपूर (बिजौरा नीबू) ले रखा है; उनके हस्ताग्रभागमें पाश, अंकुश, दन्त तथा वरद (मुद्रा) सुशोभित हैं; उनका मुख गजके समान है और सर्पमय आभूषण धारण किये हैं। वे कमलके आसनपर विराजमान हैं और समस्त देवता उनके चरणों में नतमस्तक हैं; ऐसे विघ्नराजदेव आपलोगोंके लिये कल्याणकारी हों। Translation in Marathi:- लाल रंगाचे दागिने आणि वस्त्रे आणि तुंडीला चंद्र मुकुट असलेली फुले त्याचे डोळे आणि नाक बियांनी भरलेले तीन बटू पाय होते. त्याने नागाचे मुख धारण केले आणि हाताच्या टोकांना दोरी, गोडे आणि शरद ऋतूतील वरदानांनी सजवले. तुझ्या उत्कर्षाच्या अडथळ्यांचा राजा असलेल्या कमळ-विराजमान भगवान, तुझा नमन राक्षस होवो. Translation in English:- Red with red ornaments and robes and flowers with a tundila moon crown He has three dwarf feet with eyes and a nose full of seeds. He was adorned with a serpent's face and a rope, a goad and an autumn boon May the lotus-seated Lord, who bows down to you, be the king of all obstacles to your prosperity.
